International Celebration of Deaf Arts

24 & 25 September 2015

Solar Bear take over the Citizens Theatre for two days to celebrate theatre and performance that is accessible to deaf and hearing participants and audiences.

There are workshops and talks from Jenny Sealey (Graeae Theatre), Jennifer Bates (The Deaf & Hearing Ensemble), Sign Song Diva Caroline Parker, composer Dr. Oliver Searle, Katrina Fisher, Solar Bear,  Josette Bushell-Mingo (Tyst Teater), Claire Lamont (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) and Gerry Ramage, Solar Bear Artistic Director.

Two international theatre companies join them: ANO Nedoslov from Russia with a performance double bill on Thursday 24 September and Tyst Teater from Sweden performing a devised piece based on Alice in Wonderland on Friday 25 September. The two companies will also lead workshops during the day for delegates.

Add to this a screening of A Love Divided, a short film by Solar Bear Deaf Youth Theatre, a new production from Solar Bear, Kind of Silence, devised and directed by Danny Krass and designed by Kai Fischer and you have two exciting days of theatre and performance.

Thursday 24 September

10am – 5pm: Workshops – FREE. (includes a performance of Kind of Silence)

Workshops will be led by Jenny Sealey, Gerry Ramage, Dr Oliver Searle and Ano Nedoslov

Each participant can select two workshops. Lunch is provided.
