Deaf Youth Theatre - Summer Project17/07/2017
At A.F. Stobo Carpet Factory in Paisley, in the colourful slab room, young boys have to grow up fast.
Teenage friends Phil and Spanky spend their time showing off and teasing their colleagues and boss in a verbal tug of war.
Phil has a dream of becoming an artist that even the chat of the annual staff dance, monthly wage or the ‘out of his league’ Lucille can’t stop.
One of the best-loved plays in twentieth-century Scottish theatre, the original creators, writer and designer John Byrne and director David Hayman bring back this funny, emotional play which gives a clear picture of the tough, rebellious, working class culture of 1950s industrial Scotland.
The director David Hayman will appear on stage as the boys’ boss Willie Currie
BSL Interpreters: Yvonne Strain & Catherine King
