We are delighted to announce that Solar Bear has been awarded funding by Creative Scotland as a Regularly Funded Organisation for 2018-21.
This funding will make a huge difference as we develop our ground-breaking work with the deaf community, putting inclusion at the heart of all we do, and enabling us to reach new audiences across Scotland and beyond.
Creative Director and CEO, Jonathan Lloyd said: “This is a tremendous vote of confidence in the company and our plans for the future. I want to thank all our partners and creative collaborators who’ve got us to where we are now: members of Deaf Youth Theatre, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and all the students on the BA Performance in BSL and English, our staff, trustees, freelancers and supporters.”
Chair of Trustees, Peter Reid said: “Our Trustees are very grateful for Creative Scotland’s on-going support for Solar Bear which will allow Jonathan and his inspiring team to build and extend our artistic vision. We are very proud of Solar Bear’s past achievements but even more excited about what we can achieve in the future as we increasingly focus on championing work for the deaf community; watch this space!”
We look forward to sharing more of our plans over the coming months as we strive to forge new ways of storytelling that are more inclusive, expressive and daring.
