Are you deaf? Do you love the movies? Want to learn how it all works?
Then this project is for you!
Solar Reels is an incredible opportunity for 3 deaf people to learn about film-making.
Mentored by 2 deaf film and television professionals you will learn about story development, production skills, filming and editing. This includes creating your own film!
- Who? You must be deaf, age 18 or older and live in Scotland.
- When? 3-15th of July 2023.
- Where? Glasgow.

How to apply
There are 2 ways to apply:
- Send us a video (in BSL or English) – no more than 5 minutes
OR
- In written English – no more than 2 pages
Answer these questions:
- Tell us about your favourite movie and why you like it?
- Why do you want to get involved in film-making?
- Tell us about any experience you have of film-making?

A: No, just a love of films and a desire to learn.
Q2: How do I send my application video?
A: You can upload to Vimeo, Youtube, Dropbox, Google Drive or We Transfer and send us the link.
Q3: I am not confident uploading a video and need some help?
A: Need support uploading your video? Please email marcus@solarbear.org.uk and we will assist.
Q4: What support is there for people that need to travel from outside Glasgow?
A: We encourage applications from people across Scotland. To support this we have a travel bursary. For more information or to find out if you are eligible email marcus@solarbear.org.uk
Q5: Do I need BSL?
A: We welcome and support all communication styles.
Q6: What support will be provided in the space?
A: We will have a full support and communication team.
Q7: Is there an upper age restriction?
A: No.
