Our partnerships with schools are essential to every aspect of Solar Bear’s work. These collaborations enable us to run creative workshops, recruit for Deaf Youth Theatre, and test and develop new ideas together.
For example, St Roch’s High School played a key role in the development of two of our professional productions, The Arrival and Happiness. Workshops with the school helped shape both the content and form of these projects.

‘Working with Solar Bear really allowed the pupils to witness the possibilities and benefits of drama- not just in a performance sense but also for wellbeing and confidence. Their workshops are always full of fun and use interesting elements to help encourage young people to expand their imagination. I know the deaf pupils in the school felt particularly inspired to work alongside other deaf actors and facilitators.’
