We are currently in the middle of a 3-year partnership with St Roch’s Secondary School in Glasgow.
Each year we run a series of Research and Development workshops at St Roch’s, working with a group of deaf and hearing students. We test out ideas for our professional productions – like The Arrival or Happiness – which later that year go on tour across the country. These workshops help to shape the content and form of the project.
Creative learning is central to how we work. We see our work with young people at St Roch’s as a creative exchange, taking us in surprising and unexpected directions.
We are keen to expand the network of schools we partner with in future. For more information, please contact our Creative Director Jonathan Lloyd:

‘Working with Solar Bear really allowed the pupils to witness the possibilities and benefits of drama- not just in a performance sense but also for wellbeing and confidence. Their workshops are always full of fun and use interesting elements to help encourage young people to expand their imagination. I know the deaf pupils in the school felt particularly inspired to work alongside other deaf actors and facilitators.’
