The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in association with Solar Bear Theatre Company present, The Assumption, a world premiere by celebrated Scottish playwright Douglas Maxwell.
In a small country house in the Highlands of Scotland during the darkest days of World War Two lies the perfect location for a secret mission. The house itself: crumbling, forgotten, hidden in plain sight at the end of a lonely peninsula – forest to one side, cliffs and sea to the other.
As tensions rise to fever pitch, how far will people go to get what they want?
The Assumption, is a ghostly Gothic thriller, a story of war and love, about a prisoner and a haunted painting. Performed in British Sign Language and English by the BA Performance students at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
The story is told in a series of monologues. About half the scenes are in spoken English, half are in BSL. Captions are used in all scenes.
This performance was filmed and hosted on Youtube for a limited period of time. In due course we hope to make the film public but if you would like to watch the film now please request a private link – felix@solarbear.org.uk
